Holy bathing, cleansing of the home and a simple satvik meal — the vrati begins with purity.

Sacred fasting
A day-long fast broken at dusk with gud ki kheer, roti and fruit, after which the 36-hour nirjala vrat begins.

Sunset offering
Families gather at the water with soop and daura of thekua, sugarcane and fruit to offer arghya to the setting sun.

Sunrise offering
The final offering to the rising sun. The fast concludes with paran and prasad is shared with everyone.

What to expect
- • Arghya at the temple pond ghat at sunset and again at sunrise
- • Dinner for everyone after Sandhya Arghya (please RSVP by registering)
- • Prasad for all after Usha Arghya
- • Food counters, cultural program, kids' activities and community vendors
How to participate
- • Register your household in advance so we can plan dinner, prasad and ghat space
- • Tell us if someone in your family is keeping the vrat so we reserve a ghat spot
- • Sign up for a volunteer counter — setup, food, prasad, parking, safety, cleanup
- • Bring your soop, daura and offerings; volunteers will help you to the water
